The swelling occurred inside and around the back passage is called as Piles. Piles are formed due to the swelling or bloating of veins present with the anal canal lining. The swelling in the vein is due to the accumulation of more blood than usual.
Piles can be found in two variants
External Piles are those which develops below the lower part of the anal canal. External piles are painful as lower anal canal has pain nerve fibers.
Internal Piles develop above the 2-3 cm inside the anus in the upper area of the anal canal. They are not painful like the other variant of piles.
Internal piles are again classified into different degree
Degree 1- small swellings inside the anal canal lining. Degree 1 piles are very common.
Degree 2- large piles. Partly pushed out from the anal canal but quickly back inside again.
Degree 3- found small, soft lumps that hang out from the anal canal.
Degree 4 – permanently hang out from the anal canal and cannot go back inside the anus.
